Writing in terms understood by those who fought in our Civil War, I sent this message to my representatives:

"During this non-military phase of our Civil War, the Confederacy seeks to weaken all ties that bind the Union together. Those binding ties include the National Parks System, the US Postal Service, universal free public education and all sources of Federal income. Leading the assault on the Union at the moment, Republicans can be relied upon to do the bidding of their fellow Confederate conspirators. If you support the Union and are not part of this conspiracy, you will act to strengthen the Federal government, in this case by carefully guarding the public lands as public resources for the use of future generations."

  1. I left out Social Security on my list of ties that bind the Union. I could also have given the nod to infrastructure issues and health care, all of which are suffering in the hands of the Confederates. And foreign policy? I just learned today we haven't even bothered to fill the post of Ambassador to South Korea! Maybe each state in the Union will appoint its own. Aargh!

  2. Leonard Smith That would mean taxing the people who have the money. What an odd concept!
