What's going on here in the USA is more than just environmental politics. Below is one way of analyzing these events. Take what you want and leave the rest.

What is being done to destroy the US Federal Union in the 21st century? Take a look around. If you see something, say something. Giving this conspiracy enough light and fresh air may yet stop it before armed conflict (beyond what we have already experienced) resumes.

The American Civil War never ended has been a background theme of several comments that have been made on these posts. In the 21st century, there are American politicians currently in office (and running for office) that are attempting by overt acts to overthrow the Federal government and destroy the Union.

You can identify these folks by their deeds, a few of which are enumerated below.

1. Confederates steadfastly oppose the federal government's efforts to generate income by consistently railing against taxes. (Taxes and fees are the only way governments have of obtaining funds for their operation.) No tax is low enough. At the same time, they attack the agency the federal government uses to collect taxes, the Internal Revenue Service. Bankrupting the federal government is here the objective.

2. They attempt to assure that agencies designed to fulfill specific Federal Congressional objectives are denied both the money and the personnel needed to fulfill their mandated objectives. To what purpose? To put more money in the pockets of their fellow conspirators while weakening the Federal government's ability to function at all.

3. Confederate conspirators appoint saboteurs to infiltrate Federal agencies so that these agencies function in such a way as to work against themselves, sowing confusion and dissension in an attempt within the agencies to further this sabotage of the federal government.

4. Conspirators employ gossips to spread rumors. The first casualty of any war is truth. Confederates' propaganda that lies are being deliberately fabricated and spread for mass consumption by Union supporters, is a sure sign we are still at war.

5. To advance the Confederate conspiracy, Confederates actively solicit the assistance of foreign enemies of the United States. Russia, etc. and the Confederates are all working to weaken or destroy the United States Federal government. Why not join forces? See Putin's Plan for the US: [ https://goo.gl/TosdL4 ]

6. Confederates oppose American democracy. They do so by carefully crafting state laws in such a way as to prohibit voting by certain specific groups. At the same time, Confederates attempt to sap the voting power of Federal Union supporters by manipulating the boundaries of Federal voting districts.

7. In an attempt to resume the armed phase of the Civil War, Confederates discourage as much as possible any attempt by Americans to peaceably assemble to protest against anything. If peaceable protest is discredited or denied and the voice of the electorate is stifled, Confederate conspirators hope Americans will cease to vote with their ballots and will instead "vote" with their guns. Some already have. See [ https://goo.gl/SvTG9X ] for one of the first "votes" cast.

8. Confederate advocates for the resumption of armed insurrection are among the ardent, paid salespeople for the arms industry's current efforts to expand sales by selling guns that are specially designed to kill as many humans as quickly as possible and are attempting to funnel Federal Union military hardware to local Sheriffs. Their objective here is clear. Confederate forces are encouraging the use of these weapons against Federal agents and Union supporters. (Perhaps you remember a certain incident where no "game animals" other than Federal agents were present? See [ https://goo.gl/ZGuLQS ] to refresh your memory.)

  1. Leonard Smith Ha! Yes, I guess I have overlooked some practical realities. As you speculate, he's loyal to his party and afraid to act outside official party dogma. Pretty useless as a Rep.

  2. Leonard Smith Eisenhower is the last Republican I admired, though I soldiered on in the Jacob Javits/ Nelson Rockefeller wing of the party until Reagan. Now Trump makes all of them look good in hindsight. None of them were as full of themselves as Puppet Trump is today! I cannot imagine why he allows himself to be led around by the nose by Putin, as evidenced by his unwillingness to impose the latest sanctions laws passed by Congress against Russia.
