The County Legislature has not responded to my request for the locations of fallout shelters in Tompkins County. Nor have they seen the wisdom of stockpiling food for times when harvest is not possible. Perhaps I should write them again...

Leonard Smith I suspect that is what happened here. The only way to protect against nuclear war is not to have one in the first place, but it looks as though one could be in the future for us anyway. So I think our local governments should be thinking about the consequences, if only to realize there really isn't much that can be done.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, the wisdom of food storage for hard times was something experienced over 2,000 years ago. The US stores oil. I think we store grain, too, but there is no coordination to the latter.
Oh, well. Let the next generation deal with it! Maybe things will hold together just long enough for us boomers to depart from the scene before we suffer the consequences of our carelessness. Getting away with murder. What an accomplishment!
