Assassinations in our world: Are we Ignoring them?

Mitchell,

Your information is incorrect. But the distraction from these murders and attempted murders caused by the pandemic is real.

There have been major assassination attempts against world leaders during the pandemic. Here are a few you may have missed.

On 6 January 2021, insurrectionists attacked the US Congress, proclaiming that they were there, according to their chants, to “hang Mike Pence,” who as Vice President of the US was a world leader. They also proclaimed they were there to threaten the life of leader Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress. These major assassination attempts failed only because the plans were imperfectly executed and the targeted victims escaped.

During the pandemic, the prominent head of Russian opposition to Dear Leader Vladimir Putin was attacked by “unknown” assassins with a deadly nerve agent.[1] Alexey Navalny reportedly tricked Russian spy into admitting poisoning

This major assassination attempt failed only because the intended victim was not exposed to the agent for a sufficient length of time to do him in.

Politicians are not the only leaders of our world. Scientists are, too.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran's most senior nuclear scientist was assassinated during the pandemic. The government of Iran blames the US and Israel. Political consequences will follow.

Iranian military officials were also targeted and the attempt in at least one case succeeded.[2] Suleimani killing the latest in a long, grim line of US assassination efforts

Ongoing assassinations and attempted assassinations continued where you might expect them, in war zones. The Taliban executed many, many of them in Afghanistan.

“The violence has over the past two months claimed the lives of at least five journalists, a provincial deputy governor, civilian society activists and a renowned election observer.”[3] US Blames Taliban for Plotting Afghan Assassinations

Multiple nations were responsible for targeted assassinations in the Middle East.[4] Aerial Assassinations Are Now Commonplace In Iraq And Syria

Beneath the notice of Western media, surely other attempted assassinations with political implications have occurred around the world during the pandemic. We here in the US did not see or hear of them due to our preoccupation with events on our home front connected with Covid-19, a presidential election, an attempted coup, a collapsed economy and lots of etc.
